Eyes on Rantavitikka for constructing new

The basic task of DAS is to offer reasonably priced living for those studying at Rovaniemi. For long, we have been preparing to release two buildings at Kuntotie, and planned on building new apartments close to the student campus. We wish to be ground breakers in construction, and pioneers together with the university, university of applied sciences and the city of Rovaniemi.

Our next apartments will be built in the so-called Riihipellonpuisto area. Alongside the partners mentioned above we have been working on the project plan and our strong and stated will is that the new building will be of a DAS-building with a small ecological footprint. Our target is to create an impactful student apartment building in terms of ecology and cityscape. It is possible that Senaatti-kiinteistöt is going to execute spaces that compliment living and meet the academic needs in the same block. We see Riihipellonpuisto as an entity that would also act as an attraction in the future as the students become a source of competition for the schools.

Our aim is that there will be at least 100 attractive, diverse and individual apartments and functional shared spaces in Riihipellonpuisto, offering alternatives for living for both Finns and foreigners alike. The foundation points of planning and building the apartments will be the strategy for circular economy by the city of Rovaniemi, basic principles of sustainable development, innovations enabled by digitalisation and alternative energy production methods. The new DAS building will also be a research facility and testing laboratory for the Lapland University of Applied Sciences and Napapiirin Energia ja Vesi Oy. The Lapland UAS is strongly present in the different phases of the planning and building and the post-construction observation.

Different problems relating to indoor air quality have been present in the public debate for a long while now. This debate has created a need for wood and timber-constructions. The chances for wood- and hybrid constructions are openly investigated in this project.

We will carefully listen to the opinions of our tenants, students, people living in the area and our other interest groups as the construction development progresses. Together we will make it work, so let us work for it.

Have a successful New Year!
