Change of DAS CEO
Domus Arctica Foundation is changing its CEO. Tuija Rompasaari-Salmi will step down and Esko Määttä, will take over as the new interim CEO.
The Foundation's mission is to provide affordable rental housing for students in Rovaniemi. The main challenge for the Foundation in the near future is to build more student housing in Rovaniemi. Student housing is a key factor in the attractiveness of higher education institutions.
There have been significant changes in government housing policy over the last year and a half. It has been decided to abolish the Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland (ARA), the State Housing Fund will be merged into the State budget and investment grants for special groups have been cut to a significant extent, all of which together undermine the conditions for the implementation of new construction and renovation projects for special groups. DAS also needs to find new, sustainable alternatives for affordable student housing renewal.
