Greetings from the Managing Director

Lauri Herva has started as the Managing Director of the Domus Arctica foundation on May 5, 2025. We warmly welcome Lauri to DAS!

“Greetings from the DAS office. I started working last week, and the first few days have been spent on the basics.

Spring and the beginning of the year have been eventful in many ways at DAS.  We are making several changes in operations and services to better serve our tenants and those who apply for housing from us. Even in a short time, it has been great to see DAS running smoothly. Everyday life in the office runs efficiently and operational improvements are constantly being made. This is something we will continue to strive for in the future, so that we can ensure the conditions for quality and affordable housing.

Our core mission, which is affordable housing, faces significant challenges. The changes made to student housing support and ARA funding, on one hand, weaken the position of students and at the same time limit the capacity of student housing foundations to meet the demand for affordable housing. Nevertheless, we are working with the City of Rovaniemi and the universities to find solutions and we are also planning the construction of new buildings. From the perspective of DAS, we must also look far into the future, considering the needs and expectations of future tenants. I firmly believe that by working together we can meet these challenges and create an attractive student city in Rovaniemi.
